Nocturna's Cradle
Eventually even gods fall out of love. As it was for the Goddess--now called Nocturna, who left her partner to roam freely upon Lakota. Now on it was the Golden Age, in which all was perfect and undisturbed. The original children of Nocturna had given birth to their own offspring, to which had also carried on the line for generations and generations. No one died here, and all was plentiful. Resulting in millions of wolves venturing about.
Nocturna had no taste for a luxurious welcoming, nor did she want her descendants to know of her emotional state. Although the very earth quivered at her feet, so her arrival was hard not to notice. All the same, she hid herself in the skin of a white wolf to live a normal life.
After spending a hundred years on Lakota, she had found herself falling in love with a mortal fae. She was a gorgeous she-wolf known throughout the realm for her exotic beauty, and her name was Lyja. Many suitors from throughout the world had come to claim her, but it was only Nocturna who gained audience with her. After spending much time together, the two developed a deep love for one another. At the time Nocturna believed that being with Lyja was the happiest thing that ever happened to her.
It was not long before that happiness disappeared with the arrival of the second god: Endarel. For he was her former lover and came to the planet to fetch Nocturna back. He was willing to do anything to make her his once again.
Nocturna knew she had to tell Endarel about her mate, but she was afraid of what he'd do. As he was known for being ruthless with punishment and would not take this offense lightly. Though she had to talk to him either way, and end their relationship once and for all.
Thus she said her goodbyes and promised that Lyja would see her again shortly.
When Nocturna arrived at Endarel's palace, a thunderstorm of impending fury rolled in her wake. She was outraged by the way he broke his promise to leave her alone. Soon he realized that she had come, and set out to greet her with a kind smile. It was a bit unnerving.
He took no notice in her mood and invited to her dine with him, she grudgingly agreed...
While they ate, Nocturna grew suspicious of his motives. She could tell he was hiding something from her by the way he would choke down the rage that boiled in his throat.
Ignoring the tension in the air, Endarel asked: "Enjoying the meat, my dear?"
Nocturna cocked her brow in curiosity before replying, "Yes. What is it exactly?"
The meat was dry and lean, most unlike anything she had ever eaten before.
Before she knew it, the god began to chuckle darkly.
"Lyja."
The unwelcomed feeling of nausea forced Nocturna to vomit up everything in her stomach. In which was broken off by the terrified screech she let out before flying out of the palace and into the thick of the forest.
It is unknown how long she ran through the towering trees, but at the end her paws were bleeding out upon the grass. When she could take no more, she collapsed onto the ground. Nocturna wailed and wept in her misery, hot tears streaming from her eyes like a river. The tears of her sorrow collected together until they made a pool below her, and that pool is known as "Nocturna's Cradle" today. What happened to her after that was never known, only that she disappeared with the coming of night. Most of the Kuna say that she became the moon, in able to live without the shadow of Endarel.
