...Ceremonies and Traditions... "Some of the ceremonies are spectacular." Aida said with a forced smile at me. Dessen sighed and rolled his eyes. From his face, he had clearly given up hope on arguing against her.
"Why just some?" I pressed curiously.
Aida's smile became less forced as she began to describe. "Well, the Tachi ceremonies are very free and quite refreshing. They include more acceptable events, such as drinking sap and resting under the Grandmother Tree."
"It's a complete and utter snore-fest." Dessen groaned. "I'm falling asleep even hearing about it. I mean, seriously -- You sleep under a tree, rub berries on your face, drink some sap, and plaster some leaves to some poor little pup? Not to mention you shimmy your hips in an attempt to dance for your so glorious Grandmother Tree."
Aida stared at Dessen with her jaw dropped. "You drown wolves. That's not called being reborn, or whatever you call it. It's called death by drowning." Aida snorted, "But what's it to you -- you kill people in ritualistic sacrifices to begin with."
"Why I --" Dessen began growling and stepping towards Aida.
I quickly stood up and stepped between the pair. "I think I get it..." I quickly said to both of them. "Honest, I would rather move on before you rip each other's throat out."
"Depends." Aida's eyes flashed over to Dessen with an innocent yet mysterious look in her eyes. "Will you be ripping my throat out for fun or in honor to your Goddess?"
A snarl ripped through Dessen's throat. "Both with my luck." He attempted to say calmly. He shook his head and turned around, stepping over to the river.
"Where are you going?" I called curiously, in minor concern.
"Fishing. I want to eat actual meat, unlike some vegetarian over there." Dessen shouted back.
Aida put her paw in front of he and gave a soft laugh. "Let's give him time to cool down. I pushed him to the breaking point." She admitted grudgingly. "Besides, I want to tell to you about something real quick without Dessen being near." Aida stood up and began to move farther away from Dessen and his fishing, but still in range. "You coming?" ** A Priest must always be present for each ceremony**
The Tachi
BIRTH Two days after their birth, pups are required to drink the sap of the Grandmother Oak. They are to be wrapped in leaves and sap for one night with their mother before officially becoming part of the pack.
ADULTHOOD On the eve of becoming an adult, the wolf must travel to the Grandmother Oak. They must paint themselves in berry juice and stay at the base of the tree for as long as required. (3 days) During those days, the wolf cannot eat nor sleep. If having abandoned the tree at any time or eaten, they are exiled from that religious faction. They may only leave the tree once they've had a vision in which reveals the animal guardian spirit inhabits. This 'vision' only comes when the wolf is heavily induced with fatigue and hunger.
FALL CEREMONY The Tachi smear berry juice over their faces and dance infront of the Grandmother Oak while the priest sings.
The ritual grants a long, restful sleep for the tree.
Song: “Where the wind blows free there you will be Now rest your eyes And after you shall rise When the grass grows green You will come back to me”
SPRING CEREMONY The female Tachi’s start spring with the awakening dance. They wear flower circlets upon their heads and dance for the male wolves. Then the males and females pair off and start dancing.
DEATH CEREMONY When a wolf within the Tachi's die, they leave the world exactly how they came into it. Sap is placed upon the wolf's fur and he/she is coated with leaves. Tachi wolves may offer a simple prayer to the wolf before he/she is left into the forest to decompose.

The Kuna
BIRTH Newborn’s are given the priest's blessing and are covered in sacred white ashes. They are then given a little water from Nocturna’s Cradle.
Blessing: “May the moon illuminate you for all the days to come.”
ADULTHOOD When a wolf just reaches adulthood, they are taken to Nocturna’s Cradle. They will wade into the water, where a couple wolves are permitted to forcefully drown them until they lose consciousness. If a wolf wakes, then they are considered "reborn" and blessed by Nocturna. The next day they are required to paint themselves in blood and spend two days in the wilderness alone.
THE FULL MOON Every full moon the Kuna hold a party dedicated to the moon. They visit the shrine, and bring forth 3 sacrifices; usually lone wolves or those who offer themselves willingly. The Priests duty is now to get others to hold the sacrifice face-down into Nocturna's pool. As they drown, the Priest proceeds to howling a symphony for their Goddess.
Symphony: "Mistress take thy hollow bones Drown all light with the weight of stones Darkness take thee from within Thrive with the warmth Of our skin"
NEW YEARS The most sacred ritual of all is performed on new years. The priest will provide a newborn pup before the shrine(Nocturna’s Cradle). It is here by a chorus of chants that the priest slits the throat of the newborn and pours its blood into Nocturna’s Cradle.
[They believe that it is the only way to have a happy and plentiful year with the Goddess’s blessing.]
Chant: “Reborn as Her”
DEATH CEREMONY Upon the death of a Kuna, the relatives of that wolf are required to cut a part of their own body and dribble their blood into the mouth of the wolf. Next, the Priest stuffs rocks into the mouth of the wolf. The wolf is then cast into the nearby lake to sink to the bottom.
